Semi human face with fangs and flaming eyebrows and elaborate headpiece - White jade is slightly translucent with reddish suffusion, calcification and moderate surface erosion.
- Carving has some three dimentional elements: the earrings, hat.
- The surface decoration is combination of low relief (the flaming eyebrows, fangs, "C" scrolls on hat, decoration on back) and incised single lines.
- The face side of the carving is quite rounded, while the back is only slightly rounded.Â
- A small hole runs from top to bottom suggesting use as a pendant.
- Â Face has a fierce appearance.
- This piece is most likely a very well carved monster face-Shang or Western Zhou.
