Axe pendant with stylish animal face - White translucent jade with slight ochre infusion, calcification and substantial surface erosion.Â
- Pendant has two small holes in the top pip for suspension, and a small hole under the animal face in keeping with the blade derivation.
- Decorative elements are in relief and nicely carved, although simple.
- Blade is slightly oval in cross-section.
- I'm unsure about the style of this carving; the animal face is an unusual beast face, rather simplier than the archaic ones. Ming archaism?
