- Some reddish suffusion, with erosion and light calcification all over.
- Relief is typical shang hook and line, abstractly suggesting wings, tail and feet.
- Carving is slightly oval in cross-section, while base of carving flares noticeably.
- Bird's crest is typical tooth pattern, with original soil rust visible between the teeth.
- Although carving stands upright (due to flared base), flange and hole at top suggest it was used as a pendant.Â
