Parrot in green jade with crest and flange.
 
  • Slightly translucent green jade with light pitting and cracks.
  • "C" scrolls decorate wing, while fine lines embellish the  inverted "?" tail.
  • Small flanges at bottom of feet help carving stand upright; may have been used to fasten to a standard.
  • Unusual pose, the finely carved beak stands out.
  • Pose is similar to jade bird in Zhongguo gu yuqi tudian (The Pictorial Handbook of Ancient Chinese Jades), Wen Wu Publishing, 2007, pp. 164.
