Bird pendant in archaistic style Light green jade with brown glaze, calcification and pitting. A plump bird with hamer beak and and crest. Jade is oval in cross-section; some elements are carved in relief. This piece looks something like the Shang-Zhou birds, but nothing is quite right: never saw a crest like that notching on the crest is different eye is fanciful, and different surface decoration is distinctive, but not line and hook common to Shang-Western Zhou
I imagine this is an older archaistic piece fashioned to look old, and not really a copy of the old jades (also lacks their charm). 8.49 x 4.66 x 1.23 cm.
