Large S-shaped Dragon and Phoenix
- Pale green translucent jade with reddish suffusion and spots of calcification.
- Some areas of surface deterioration with small, deep pin holes; occlusion.
- There are fine hair lines on the tail;Â
- Body of animal is nicely outlined with a slanted ridge; the middle field is filled with finely cut grains.
- The surface has been polished and prepared in modern times - presumably wrinkle and spotting as seen on the tail before the work.
- The torso of the phoenix is attached to a long, stem-like shaft with attached curls (leaves?) that bisects the middle of the carving; the middle seems to contain a stylized, inverted animal head.
