Bottle horn dragon with curved tail  - Dark green opaque jade with reddish suffusion and considerable pitting.
- Twin suspension holes on top.
- Decoration is lines and hooks and triangular, concentric spirals.
- Done in true relief that rises slightly above the ground, and effect is enhanced by double slanting incised lines on each side.
- Eyes are square boxes with round pupils; mouth is open, but no teeth.
- This piece is a substantial carving in the round which has a generally benign aspect (if not goofy to modern eyes).
- 9.53 x 4.29 x 2.93 cm
(Very hard to photograph - dark color combined with shiny surface defeated several attemps)   |
