Elephant-like creature - Grey translucent jade with red suffusion; deep fissure on tail; suffusion may be natural.
- Carving is in the round with two pieces of incised decoration (less well executed), perhaps a later addition.
- Beautiful scroll-like relief on top of animal at base of the tail.
- Rather fanciful animal appears to have no legs, a triangular rolled up tail, and eyes mounted on what might be ears!
- Tusks are serrated and quite wicked looking.
- Age is uncertain, but I feel this is pre-Qing.
- 9.8 x 5.2 x 4.9 cm.
