Blocky Semi-Human

Abstract figure, originally translucent jade, in crouching pose. Only the eye is readily identifiable.  Decoration consists of deeply cut cloud curls.  Calcification, pitting, and suffusion are clearly visible; jade is almost completely occluded. The general treatment of features is somewhat crude; the decorative flourishes overwhelm the natural forms. The calcification highlights nicely the carving technique where successive, parallel lines of abrasion are used to create the deep relief. 10 x 4.2 x 1.2 cm
