Substantial tiger plaque with bent head and curled tail  - Plaque in white translucent jade with small black inclusions; skin of jade is pickled.
- Animal outfitted with large paws and a curling extension from the lower jaw. Probably helps to match the heavy curling tail at the rear end.
- Plaque has oval cross-section and is nicely outlined along the back and side.
- The middle of the body is decorated with grain spirals delicately formed in a regular pattern.
- Shallow incised lines, and a couple of deep slanting incised lines complete the decorative work.
- Similar in style to the tiger 'revival' pieces illustrated in Rawson, Chinese Jades, 1995, pp. 262-263 , fig. 9. They are attributed to the late Eastern Zhou period, ie Warring States.
- Â 14.96 x 6.71 x .88 cm.
